Join Me in the Vortex Kitchen and Find out Why These Doughnuts Are So Special
Growing up in Southwest Durham, which borders Chapel Hill, my very favorite breakfast treat was a doughnut. On Sundays we would get “The Tar Heel”, which was a giant glazed doughnut in the shape of a foot, with a big glob of ooey gooey, chocolate frosting on the heel. I can still smell the hot sugar and feel the remnants it left on my sticky little hands.
These days you see it all, from The Voodoo Doll doughnut to the Evil Elvis. So in the prolific world of doughnut making, aside from tasting Uh-MAY-Zing, what makes Vortex doughnuts so out of this world?
